Has anyone ever heard of this man? Chad Smith was the amazing drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and is now currently in the band Chickenfoot (along with Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar, and Michael Anthony). Chad Smith was born in Richfield Minnesota and grew up in Illinois. Most people mistake him as Will Ferrel, no he is not Will Ferel he just looks very similiar to him. Smith uses a basic Pearl Masters MRX series drum set. It includes 12x10" rack tom, 14x14" floor tom, 16x16" floor tom, 24x16" bass drum, and a 14x5" Pearl Sensitone Classic II snare. Chad uses Clear Emperor heads for the top of his toms and Clear Amabssador heads on the bottom. The bass drum is a clear Powerstroke 4 with a falam slam patch. His snare uses a Coated CS Controlled Sound with black dot. The bottom of the snare is a hazy ambassador head. I think his toms has a nice warm tone to them, which makes them sound great. His bass drum sounds fantasic, it creates a nice thumb which keeps the beat. Chad's cymbals include Sabian 14" AAX-Celerator Hi-Hats, 21" AA Rock Ride, 19" AA Medium Crash, 20" AA Rock Crash, 10" AA Splash, 19" AA China, 20" Prototype China w/rivets. He uses all Sabian cymbals which adds an amazing addition to his set. I prefer Zildjian or Sabian in my opinion but that is just me. Even though Zildjian costs a little extra cash I think it is worth the extra penny. I think Chad Smith is an amazing drummer, i just like his style overall and how he just acts amuses me. Smith's technique is just outstanding on how he uses his foot placement and hand movement. He adds nice fills to many of the recording of red hot chili peppers songs.
Here is a video of one of many amazing drum solos Chad Smith had.
Pretty Sweet huh? Tell me what you think of this, his technique, etc. all that stuff.
