How "Drum" Are You?

Just look at the title, do you even know anything about drums or even any famous drummers? Well, if not read this carefully. Drums are a very amazing instrument that are used in almost every genre of music. I will be focused on mostly rock, hard rock, and metal drummers. The drum set contains usually around 5 to 8 pieces. First of all, there is a bass drum. The bass drum is the biggest drum that stands on the ground. This drum usually makes the "thump" noise you hear in music, it almost always keeps the beat in a song. Then there is the toms, there is the floor tom and rack toms. The floor tom is on a stand on the floor and isn't used as often as the other drums but it is still a very major part of the drum set. The rack toms are the mounted drums that are usually mounted on top of the bass drum and are used for drum fills (like a solo in the middle of the song that doesn't last long) often. Next, there is the snare drum, this is the drum that is used the most and makes a kind of "popping" noise. Then there are the cymbals along with the hardware ( cymbal stands, bass pedals, cymbal attachments, etc.). The cymbals are the crashing noises you usually hear in a song. There are specific types of cymbals. There are crash, ride, splash, china, and hi-hat cymbals. The hi-hat is the most common cymbal used. It opens and closes with the use of a pedal ( same thing with the bass drum). The hi-hat, snare drum, and bass drum are the most common things used in the drum set that makes a beat. They can all also be used to be a small drum set, if you don't want the toms and other cymbals. This post is just a post to get you people to under stand a little bit about the drum set and how it works, so you can under stand the other things i will say in my later posts. My next post will be about Chad Smith, the red hot chili peppers drummer.
